Website conversion checklist for Irish service businesses
If people visit your site but still need to work out how to book, enquire or take the next step, more traffic may simply send more people into the same friction. This checklist focuses on observable public journey issues you can inspect before paying for a redesign or advertising campaign.
1. Is the next action obvious within seconds?
A visitor should not need to decode whether “Contact”, “Get started”, “Appointments” and “Book now” mean different things. Pick the action that matters most and make it consistent.
2. Does the button lead where its wording promises?
If a button says “Book now” but opens a generic contact form, the customer has been moved backwards in the journey. Match the call to action to the destination.
3. Can a customer complete the journey comfortably on mobile?
Check tap targets, sticky elements, form fields, text size, booking widgets and whether important information disappears below oversized imagery or banners.
4. Are price, availability and expectations clear enough?
Uncertainty creates extra decisions. Where appropriate, explain price or price range, what happens after the click, likely response time and what information the customer will need.
5. Is trust visible near the decision?
Relevant credentials, practical guarantees, clear contact information, privacy information and real reviews work best close to the point where the visitor is deciding whether to proceed.
6. Does the site create unnecessary channel switching?
Sending visitors from a website to Facebook, Messenger, email or phone can be necessary, but every channel switch adds effort. If self service booking exists, give it a direct path.
7. Are forms asking for more than the next step requires?
Reduce fields to what is genuinely needed to continue. Explain why sensitive or unusual information is required before asking for it.
8. Can you tell which step is losing people?
At minimum, distinguish page visits, offer clicks, checkout or booking clicks, enquiries and completed transactions. Do not treat clicks as revenue.
